Sweet Vesna needs a miracle!
She’s been with a great family in Victoria since 2022 however it’s become clear that she needs a quieter home to thrive. Here is her bio from the family needing to let her go:
Vesna is a loving and loyal dog to her adults. You are in danger of her licking your entire face. Vesna is an energetic dog who needs to have at least 2 long walks or runs a day. When in daycare they have to make her have a nap/break or she gets a bit cranky because she just runs around all day with her doggy friends. At the end of the day though, she loves to chill out on the couch and get snuggles.
Vesna loves to be where her adults are and will follow you around the house. She is very food orientated and will be very motivated with treats and food.
Vesna is good with children in the home, although she tends to want to be around adults more. We would recommend that the children be older as she has a very startling bark, which has created a fear in both our young children. Vesna had a cat sibling until October 2023. Vesna is comfortable with most dogs she knows, some being small dogs and some older dogs.
Vesna can be reactive towards dogs she does not know and some men. According to the latest trainer she had, she would be classified as a level 2 reactive toward dogs as she has attacked dogs (biting, pining, barking and lunging) and a level 1 toward men as she barks and lunges at some. We have been working on training her for a year and her reactivity has gone down but she needs someone to be able to continue her training. We have been working with Jeff from Rescue Me Canine Training in Victoria. We have been working on counter conditioning and have the training plan laid out by him for Vesna.
Vesna is territorial and will bark at people who walk by or who enter her yard and home. She is anxious when new people are in the home, often settling but then reacting to them again after they stand up or move about the house.
Vesna does not like to be left alone. She gets anxious, whines, and barks if she is left alone. She will also get into garbage if she can reach them.
Vesna is always happy to see her humans. She does a little dance on her back feet and will show you her bone. Vesna loves bones the best but needs to have a special type as she destroys toys easily. She likes squeaky toys and balls as well but again they have to be tough. Vesna loves to play fetch with her people.
Vesna is anxious in the car, panting and shedding, but loves to go on adventures. She loves to hike and go to new places. She loves to go to doggy daycare, and sprints to the gate to be let in to play. Vesna needs to go to an outdoor doggy daycare or one that goes on long walks. Vesna has previously gone to one that was indoors only and she was not able to continue there as she was reacting to the dogs.
Ideally Vesna would be in a home that is on a quiet street or on some property. She is currently in a townhouse and people walk by quite often which makes her anxious and triggers her reactivity. To get to the front door, people have to enter the yard, which also sets off her reactivity.
Vesna will be a wonderful companion to a family who can give her the life she needs and deserves!
